About Sarah Chen
Background
I've been working in IT since 2012, initially as an in-house IT manager for a mid-sized accountancy firm in the City, then moving to consultancy in 2016. Most of my clients are small businesses between 10 and 150 staff — the kind of organisations that need solid IT but can't justify a full in-house team.
Over the years I've helped businesses choose managed IT providers, migrate to Microsoft 365, recover from ransomware, set up secure remote working environments and navigate the constant churn of new security requirements. I've also seen a lot of bad vendor decisions up close.
I started this blog because there's very little honest, non-commercial writing aimed at SME business owners and managers who need to make IT decisions but aren't technical. I try to fill that gap.
